We've moved!!

So it's official!  We are finally LIVING in the new house!  We are definitely still getting used to everything, but so far it has been wonderful! 

My parents, Landon's parents and my little brother helped us move on Saturday.  We spent the entire day dodging the rain, but we successfully moved about as much stuff as we expected too.  There are only a few car loads left of things at the old apartment, mostly cleaning supplies and things we plan on donating.  We're so glad to be out of there and officially home.

We also had our appliances installed on Saturday (FINALLY)!!!!!  Things went in without much of any problems.  Our only casualties of the day were one large gash in the wall of the downstairs hallway and one large gash in my father-in-law's ear (although, no one, including Steve, quite knows how it happened).

Clearly we have a long way to go in terms of unpacking and organizing, but it's finally starting to feel like home.  We definitely need to keep working hard though, because we're hosting my little brothers GRADUATION PARTY in two weeks!!!!  (I'm so proud of him!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Weekend Purchases!

For months I have been planning on going down to the Vera Bradley outlet sale in Ft. Wayne, IN.  Unfortunately, it just so happened that we had our appliances for the new house scheduled to be delivered on the same day.  Fortunately for me, I have an amazing friend who was able to score me some awesome stuff and bring it back for me!!!!!

I got a bag and a matching wallet in the Loves Me print, which I just found out is the breast cancer awareness pattern, so 10% of my purchase is going towards breast cancer research!!!!

Curtains!

I have spent the past few weeks looking for curtains that fit with the color scheme and feel that I'm going for with the new house.  I had no idea that it would be so hard to find anything I like.  I have had my eye on a few different fabrics at JoAnn's and I just happened to stop by yesterday and find that all of their home fabrics were 50% off.  I figured this was my chance.  I took it as a sign and bought 6 yards of my favorite fabric.  This will be enough to make curtains and a few pillows for the couch! 

Check out my choice!  I plan on using these colors throughout the entire first floor.  I LOVE IT!

Home updates!!!!

Things have  been really busy around the house the past two weeks!  We're getting close to our move in date!!!!

Here is what we have done so far!

1) Installed the garage door opener:

These were installed in the kitchen and all the bathrooms!  We think it was a good choice!

6) Had Cable and Internet Installed:

The comcast guy said we had excellent connectivity!  Now we just need to move the furniture in...

We really did meet a bunch of our neighbors this weekend!  It was beautiful outside and it seemed like everyone was outside doing something.  We hope that everyone continues to be friendly!

As for the rest of the week, we will continue to pack and move stuff over.  Hopefully we will receive our garbage and recycling cans sometime this week.  Our appliances should be coming on Saturday and we're hoping to do our huge move this weekend!  With the help of family and some friends we should be done in no time!  Hopefully by this time next week we will be completely moved!  (probably not unpacked yet though...)

WE'RE HOME OWNERS!

It's official!  We closed on Wednesday!  Everything went really smoothly!  We were in and out in less than a half an hour.  We now are taking on the task of doing finishing touches before we can officially move in!  My parents are coming this weekend and we are going to put them to work installing a garage door opener, a shower door for the master bathroom, blinds for the entire house and our mailbox!  There are definitely more things that we'll need to take care of, but those are the most pressing issues.
